It covers 1 year of study in China courses for visiting scholars. The program provides 75 fellowships for advanced studies at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

Eligibility Criteria for the Great Wall Program
The eligibility criteria must be met related to age and academic background. Besides, you must belong to the eligible country and fulfil English language proficiency. Those who meet the eligibility and present a compelling SOP (Statement of Purpose) stating the reasons for they deserve this scholarship are selected. Check out the criteria in detail-
- Be a citizen of an eligible developing country (not China).
- Hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree or equivalent.
- Those applying for the General scholar programs should have a high school diploma or above and be under 45 years of age.
- Those applying for the Senior scholar programs should have a Master’s degree or be associate professors, under 50 years of age.
- Meet the admission requirements of the host university.
- Be in good mental and physical health.
- English proficiency is required as most fellowships are conducted in English. However, in exceptional cases, you may be required to study Mandarin before taking up the research in Chinese-taught programs.

Steps to Apply for the Great Wall Program Scholarship
You can apply for the Great Wall Program through the National Commission for UNESCO in your country. Only the applicants nominated by UNESCO will be evaluated for the further selection process. Follow the steps given below to apply-
- Step 1: Carefully read the announcement letter and the attached ANNEX II for the UNESCO/China Co-Sponsored Fellowships Programme 2024 to understand eligibility requirements and application procedures.
- Step 2: Contact the National Commission for UNESCO in your country to inquire about the application procedures at the national level. It’s advisable to reach out to your target Chinese universities for pre-admission letters, which should be included in your application.
- Step 3: Prepare your application documents in English or Chinese according to the requirements outlined in ANNEX II.
- Step 4: Submit your online application through the Chinese Government Scholarship Information System at www.campuschina.org and follow the provided instructions.
- Step 5: Print your online application form and send it, along with hard copies of all required documents (in duplicate), to the National Commission for UNESCO in your country.
Note: The National Commission stated that it will select and transmit nominated candidates’ documents to UNESCO by April 20, 2024. After that, the application cycle will close. Those who missed the deadline can apply for the academic year 2025-26. The dates are yet to be announced.
