Studying Abroad is a dream of many but some cannot pursue it because of financial constraints. To help with the students, scholarships are granted to deserving students by the Governments of various countries. Recently, based on the bilateral talks, the Embassy of the Czech Republic has announced Scholarships for Indian Students in 2024-2025. The scholarships will be provided to graduate or postgraduate students from India for a study stay at public universities in the Czech Republic.

How many scholarships are provided and to whom?
A total of three scholarships are announced by the Embassy of Czech Republic for university students, college students, graduates, or Ph.D. candidates (exceptionally for academic staff members) who want to study or research and visit one of the Czech public institutions of higher education.

What do the scholarships include?
The scholarship includes the following –
- Stay for up to 10 months of research/study at public institutions of higher education in the Czech Republic free of cost.
- An amount of nearly 12,000 CZK (approx. 535 USD) per month for graduate students.
- Around 13,000 CZK (approx. 580 USD) per month for postgraduate students.
- Accommodation at the student dormitory at a discounted price.
- Meals including breakfast, lunch, and dinner provided at the student dormitory for a discounted price
- No fees for visa application
Note: Air tickets and medical insurance to the Czech Republic is not included. For more information on the scholarships, check the website of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic.
What documents do you need to submit to apply for them?
Here is a list of documents that need to be delivered –
Note: Duplicates of the documents are preferred and it is advised that all the documents should be in English or Czech language.
- Application form (can be downloaded from here.
- Letter of invitation (recommendation or acceptance letter) from the respective Czech university/department.
- academic curriculum vitae
- list of publications (if published any)
- detailed plan of study/research
- two letters of recommendation from academic supervisors or employer
- photocopy of diploma (if applicable)
- certified transcript(s) of records
- copy of passport
- only fine arts and performing arts students/graduates: a sample of artistic work (photographs, video/audio recording of a musical performance etc.)

What is the deadline for application submission?
The deadline for the application submission for the scholarships is 15th February 2024.
The applicants should point out to the prospective host universities that they intend to apply for the MEYS’ scholarship.
