The University of Birmingham announced a series of scholarships worth 10.52 crore for Indian students a month ago. The applications for the same are open now. The scholarships offer support to Indian students who have exceptional academic and extracurricular backgrounds and possess some achievements while studying.
It is available for undergraduate and postgraduate students. The scholarships are merit-based and automatic awards for specific academic fields including Computer Science, Art and Law, Geography, Business, Earth and Environment Sciences, and Environmental & Physical Sciences.
Which scholarships are available and what are their deadlines?
There are 15 awards of the India Chancellor Scholarship for postgraduate students worth £2,000 each, 20 awards of outstanding achievement scholarships for undergraduate students worth £4,000 each, and unlimited automatic scholarships of £2,000 each are available for students under the Global Masters Scholarships scheme.
Given below is a list of the seven scholarships that are available for Indian students who intend to enroll in the University of Birmingham for 2024-2025.
- UG Outstanding Achievement Scholarships
Deadline: April 30th, 2024
Under this scholarship, 20 students will be awarded £4,000 for an undergraduate programme starting in September 2024.
Subjects included: Pharmacy, Arts and Law, Nursing and Physiotherapy, Engineering and Physical Sciences, Life and Environmental Sciences, Pharmacy, and Social Sciences.
- DeepMind Scholarship
Deadline: Not yet announced
Subjects included: The three School of Computer Science, the University of Birmingham’s scholarships are available for Postgraduate taught masters and are valued at GBP 52,565. It will include a tuition fee of £27,540, and a maintenance grant of £19,345 provided for living costs which will be paid in installments. An amount of £1,700 will be available for purchasing essentials and £1,870 for relocation expenses. Funding of up to £2,200 will be provided for attending international conferences on AI and Machine Learning.
- Global Masters Scholarships
Deadline: May 31, 2024.
Subjects included: This scholarship will be awarded to the students who are applying for a taught master’s degree for the academic year 2024-2025. An amount of £2,000 will be awarded to each student.

- India Chancellor Scholarship for PG
Deadline: May 31, 2024.
Subjects included: 15 scholarships will be awarded to selected students to enter a postgraduate exam starting in September 2024. Subjects include Engineering and Physical Sciences, Medical and Dental Sciences, Arts and Law, Social Sciences and Life and Environmental Sciences. Students who are applying for MMus, MPhil, MLit, PGDip, and PGCert are not eligible.
- Million Pound Scholarship Fund for Business School Master’s Students
Deadline: March 15, 2024, decision by April 30, 2024.
May 15, 2024 – Decision by June 28, 2024.
Subjects included: Under this scholarship, the students are eligible for a value equivalent to full tuition support. The Birmingham Business School is accepting new MSc students for 2024 so students can apply.
- GREAT Scholarships 2024
Deadline: April 5, 2024
Subjects included: GREAT Britain Campaign in partnership with the British Council is offering this scholarship to the students who are applying for post-graduate courses in the College of Arts and Law (Law LLM and MSc are excluded)
- GEES Global Futures Scholarship
Deadline: For UG students, there is no deadline, there is a fee reduction on enrollment.
For PG students, early application is required as a limited number of scholarships is available.
Subjects included: Offering a discount of £2,000 on tuition fees for UG and PGT programmes, the GEES Global Futures Scholarship is available for students applying for School of Geography, Earth and Environmental Sciences. Programmes include Public and Environmental Health, Earth Science, Geography, Environmental Science, and Urban and Regional Planning.
