The program funds American citizens to study, research or teach English abroad. An additional three students have been designated as alternates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Fulbright Program selected the students on the basis of their academic or professional achievements. The other criterion was that candidates demonstrated leadership potential in their fields. Moreover, the program has a distinguished alumni network, including several Nobel laureates, Pulitzer Prize winners, and former or current heads of state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/flyblog.fly.finance\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/28152226\/News-Story-Cover-Photos-640-%C3%97-853px.png\" alt=\"Study Abroad\" class=\"wp-image-3751\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>William &amp; Mary has a long history of producing Fulbright students, with over 200 recipients since 1949. This year&#8217;s cohort includes John Patrick Canteros (20), Diana Honey (23), Aubrey Lay (23), Jennifer Motter (23), Thomas Plant (22), Poojitha Tanjore (23), Michaela-Katherine Taylor (23), Audrey Thronson (23), Garrett Weinstock (23) and Claire Wyszynski (23). Seven of them received English Teaching Assistant Awards, while three received a Study\/Research Award.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-what-is-fulbright-u-s-student-program\"><span id=\"what-is-fulbright-u-s-student-program\">What is Fulbright U.S. Student Program?<\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Fulbright Program is part of the flagship Fulbright Program led by the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/leverageedu.com\/blog\/study-in-usa\/\">US<\/a><\/strong> government in collaboration with over 160 countries. The program was founded in 1946 to promote &#8220;international goodwill and mutual understanding&#8221;. It offers opportunities to students, scholars, educators, professionals and higher education institutions both in the U.S. and worldwide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The selected destinations for this year&#8217;s William &amp; Mary Fulbright recipients include countries across Europe, Africa, and Asia. Poojitha Tanjore, a first-generation American and child of Indian immigrants has also received the award. Her ultimate career goal is to become a diplomat.&nbsp;So, Tanjore will be a crisis, stabilization and governance officer for USAID.
